The Tashkent Files – Who Killed Shastri? is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language thriller film about the death of former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri.
It stars Shweta Basu Prasad, Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty in leading roles. The film released on 12 April 2019 to overwhelmingly negative reviews but went on to become a box-office sleeper hit and received two National Awards.
Revolves around the mysterious death of India's 2nd Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and attempts to uncover if he had actually died a natural death, or, as alleged, was assassinated.
